Food Drive for the Homeless

After hearing about the good work that the ‘Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd’ do for the homeless of Wolverhampton, Charlotte Papyrnik in Year 11 decided it was about time we did something to help. Working with her form tutor Miss Hodgetts and several of her friends, Charlotte encouraged both staff and students to bring in jars and cans of food which we took to the Methodist Church in Wolverhampton. (Seven boxes in all)

Talking with one of the Brothers, we found out that on an average day they feed around 200 homeless people. Most days they serve sandwiches and cake though on Thursdays and Saturdays they run a soup kitchen.

All of us who went to take the food were humbled by the work the Bothers and their volunteers do to help those who are a little down on their luck. Who knows, we might even get some of us down there volunteering to help over the Easter holidays.

Many thanks to all students staff and parents who supported Charlotte in her quest to help such a worthy and noble cause.
