S.T.E.P. (Student Enhancement Program)
Our Student Enhancement Program (STEP) also provides students with an opportunity to support others in the school and wider community.
We believe that Sixth Form students should be provided with many opportunities to develop their skills, knowledge and ideas beyond the classroom. Our Enrichment programme has been carefully planned to give students the chance to pursue other interests and qualifications in conjunction with their main courses. Previous examples included in our programme are:
- Conversational Spanish
- EPQ – Extended Project Qualification
- Food Hygiene Certificate and Cooking
- Work Experience
- Maths and English Resit
Running alongside our formal Enrichment Programme we also offer students a range of after-school clubs and visits as part of their Sixth Form Courses and as stand alone experiences. In recent years students have visited Auschwitz in Poland, New York, university master classes, The Good Food Show, art galleries, Chester Scavenger Hunt, Alton Towers, theatre trips, field trips to Birmingham, Ludlow and Exmoor, and many more.
CAREER READY PROGRAMME
Led by Ellowes Hall Sports College, this programme enables you to think beyond your current aspirations and broaden your outlook. Nationally, there are less than 1% of students who have the opportunity of securing a place in Career Ready; entry to this programme would allow you to gain a competitive advantage when applying for University, employment or an Apprenticeship. In 2013 and 2014, after completing their A-levels, 97% of Career Ready students in the UK embarked on a career route with a clear plan of action outlining their goals and the steps to achieving them.
We have built strong relationships with many employers who express that they are really impressed with the calibre of our students.
The Career Ready programme at Invictus Sixth Form provides a unique opportunity for the enhancement of your CV. It allows you to work for six weeks as a fulltime employee and, because of this accessibility, training and employment opportunities can and do follow. As an example, in 2013, Virgin Trains were so impressed with the performance of two of our students that they requested that these students apply for their company’s new undergraduate training scheme, which they have now successfully completed. In 2016 and 2017, two students each gained a Higher Level Apprenticeship with Mazars, following their six-week internship.
If you want to give yourself a real advantage over your peers, then the Career Ready programme is an ideal course to develop your confidence, maximise your potential and prove that you can work in a adult environment. Please speak to Mr. Harris (Head of Business Studies) or Mrs. Toro-Pierce.
Invictus Sixth Form is pleased to announce the development of the newly – established Invictus Rugby Academy. The course will combine academic study and high-quality sporting provision at, the recently-funded £3.1 million sports complex at Kinver High School and Sixth Form.
The Rugby Academy will offer prospective students individually-tailored educational pathways; these will consist of studying A-Levels or B-TECs depending on students’ needs as well as providing you with high-quality rugby coaching and provision, via established links with Worcester Warriors RFC and England Rugby.
Alongside academic study, several England Rugby accredited qualifications will be completed over the two year period to further enhance your rugby development, including: Level 2 Coaching Award; Level 2 Officiating Award; Rugby Emergency First Aid; and Child Safeguarding ( amongst others. ) The course will also include a weekly Rugby specific nutrition and conditioning session hosted by a professional conditioning coach.
There will be numerous opportunities for you to compete against rugby playing independent schools and Sixth forms across the West Midlands region, and further afield, providing you with the prospect of demonstrating your skills at the highest possible level in the under-18 field.
This is a unique opportunity for students to not only pursue high-quality further education, but to also maintain a firm focus and development in the sport they love. It is hoped that this course will allow you to foster a life-long commitment to developing rugby at grassroots level and beyond.
