Academy Status

Ounsdale High School became an academy on 1st March 2015 after ceasing to be a maintained school and joining Invictus Education Trust. Ounsdale High School, along with Ellowes Hall Sports College, Crestwood School in Dudley and Kinver High School are founder members of this Multi Academy Trust.

New academies

When a school becomes an academy, an Academy Order is made by the Secretary of State. The predecessor school is closed and a new school, the academy, is established. The new academy is legally a new school, even though in many cases it is likely to comprise the same pupils, teachers and buildings.

Academies and Ofsted Inspections

The first inspection of all new schools, including academies, will usually take place

within three years of opening. In most instances, OFSTED will not select new

schools for a first inspection until they are in their third year of operation.

However, Ofsted may conduct a section 8 monitoring inspection of any new school

at any time, including within three years of opening, where information they hold or receive causes sufficient concern.

Parent View

Parent View is an online questionnaire that allows parents and carers to give their views about their child’s school at any time. It is also the main mechanism for parents to give their views about their child’s school to inspectors at the time of a school inspection. Once the school is notified of an inspection parents will be invited to contribute to Parent View if they have not already done so.
